Old Town

Tacoma's historic Old Town Tacoma neighborhood

History mixes with contemporary conveniences in Old Town, where you can stroll down cobblestone streets and marvel at some of the city’s oldest buildings while enjoying modern luxuries such as facials, massages and lattes!

Old Town, located at the bottom of 30th hill and along Ruston Way is the birthplace of Tacoma, and it is no wonder Job Carr settled here with the waterfront and spectacular views. We are Tacoma’s only Neighborhood Business District located on Commencement Bay. The original charm persists among local merchants who can meet your needs for flowers, jewelry and unique gifts. There is a host of dining experiences from Tacoma’s oldest saloon, the Spar, to hot spots along the waterfront, and cozy eateries in the heart of the district.

Old Town is also a great place to enliven your spirit with music, thanks to our classical concerts in Old Town Park and Slavonian Hall as well as the ever-popular Old Town Blues Festival. Also don’t forget to admire the history by having a visit at the Job Carr cabin museum in Old Town Park.
