We had the honor of dining in at The Hob Nob, located at 716 6th Ave., Tacoma, WA 98405. Open daily from 6:30am-9pm, this friendly neighborhood diner serves everything, from their famous breakfast plates and Bloody Mary’s, to their amazing selection of sandwiches and salads. Plus, their staff makes you feel right at home, from the minute you walk in the door, to the minute your stomach is filled with satisfaction – and at this point, you’re already planning your next visit!
We also had the honor of meeting with David – The Hob Nob’s very own Restaurant Manager. Here’s what he had to say:
Q: Describe The Hob Nob from your point of view.
David: “The first thing that comes to mind is that The Hob Nob is a Tacoma institution. We’ve existed as the building stands currently since 1970, and being right across from Wright Park, there is some history with the original Olympia to Seattle trolly that used to run through this area. Since then, we’ve made changes to the interior, updated the menu, and have started to attract a younger crowd, all while keeping the nostalgic feel of our original restaurant. It’s a place that’s got that kind of old-school aesthetic feel, while still giving you some modern features.”
Q: What is your favorite menu item?
David: “That’s a tough choice… I’m a big fan of our 6th Ave Mac ‘n’ Cheese. You can add kielbasa, bacon, chorizo, anything you want, so it’s a full meal. Plus, we make our bechamel sauce from scratch!”
Q: Tell us about any community outreach The Hob Nob participates in.
David: “Every October, we host a pumpkin painting event and all of the proceeds go to the Tacoma Detox Center right up the street. We are also in the process of starting an ornament decorating that we could host every December. Our goal is to run at least one community outreach event every quarter because a huge part of our vision revolves around giving back to the community.”
Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour
Have you ever felt the urge to have a Bloody Mary at six in the morning? How about a Mimosa? Well, The Hob Nob has got you covered! Every Monday-Friday from 6:30am-9:00am, you can stop by and grab a drink from their Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour menu.
Located near Tacoma General and Mary Bridge, The Hob Nob serves many of our hard-working nurses first thing every morning. For them, 6:30am is dinner time, so they’re cravings include burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese, and Bloody Mary’s. The Hob Nob acknowledged this, and the Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour was born! Open to all, ages 21+.
The food, the staff, the atmosphere, all excellent! If you’ve been here before, you know exactly what we mean, and if you haven’t yet, make sure to carve out some time in your schedule to pay this local favorite a visit!
