State Route 7 Construction Still Under Way
For all those people who drive on a regular basis, either for work or pleasure, please keep in mind and be aware of construction zone around your. For those who need to travel on State Route 7, for either work or pleasure, we are not happy to say that it will be a little while longer until you are able to take this on-ramp. Construction is still continuing for the many on-ramps for State Route 7. Here are some updates there:
– Southbound Interstate 5 exit to State Route 7 remains closed until mid-February, 2015 for construction of a storm water retention pond.
– Northbound State Route 7 on-ramp to southbound interstate 5 remains closed until spring 2015 for bridge construction.
– A-Street on-ramp to northbound interstate 5 and southbound State Route 7 remains closed until spring 2016 for bridge construction.
If you are one of those people who must drive passed or around these areas of construction, please keep in mind some of these safety tips for driving through work zones:
– Pay attention – driver inattention is the number one cause of work zone accidents. These accidents can potentially be fatal.
– Leave room between you and the car ahead of you – most work zone accidents involve someone running into the car ahead of them because they were following to closely and could not react fast enough to them stopping or slowing down.
– Drive Defensively – be aware of what is happening around you. You may have to stop or slow down at any time, so keep an open eye.
– Merge into the proper lane before you reach the work zone. Most of the time there will be cones set out to give the workers and cars passing by enough room for safety reasons. However, it is best to be aware of this and give yourself time to merge lanes before you actually reach the work zone.
– Do not use your cell phones or adjust your radio while driving through a work zone. Doing this takes your attention away from the road, even if it is just for a second and it can cause serious accidents and possibly a fatality.
