Spending the Holidays in Tacoma

The tree is lit up downtown, the ice rink is open at Point Ruston, and everyone is starting to belt out Christmas carols while getting to work on some serious holiday shopping. The best part of December in Tacoma is all of the holiday cheer spread throughout the city. At Experience Tacoma, we wanted to share some upcoming events that are sure to spark the spirit of the season this month.

The Gingerbread Showcase
November 23 to January 1 from 9 am-10pm
Courtyard Marriott
Presented by Rebuilding Together South Sound, the Gingerbread Showcase is a community event in the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott in Downtown Tacoma.

Gingerbread landmarks created by local bakers and students from Tacoma Public Schools, are designed to showcase the history of Tacoma.

Holiday Haul Crawl
December 9 10am-5pm
Downtown Tacoma
Visit local museums, restaurants and shops to get into the holiday spirit and enjoy the season’s festivities. Warm up with specials from the TAM Cafe. Enjoy free gift tag and card making in the TAM Studio.

Tacoma Concert Band Celebrates Holiday Traditions
December 10 2:30pm-4:30 pm
Pantages Theater
This Sunday matinee will be the Tacoma Concert Band’s first holiday concert to be performed at the Pantages Theater. The program will include a reading of “The Night Before Christmas” by Dave Ross accompanied by the band.

Breakfast with Santa
December 16 9am-11pm
Center of NorpointBring the family to enjoy a pancake breakfast and visit with with Santa. Participants can have pictures taken with Santa, send letters to the North Pole and create holiday crafts.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
December 16-24
Tacoma Musical Playhouse
This delightful comedy is adapted from the best-selling Young Adult book, and has become a holiday staple. Features a few favorite Christmas Carols, and a lot of laughs!
