People from the Pacific Northwest are associated with the idea that we spend most of our time outdoors, which is not a flawed perception. When you live in an area surrounded by evergreens, crisp clean air, sparkling blue water and beautiful mountain ranges, the real question is why wouldn’t you want to be spending time outside? Bass Pro Shops understands this concept and is opening its first NW store, bringing in new Tacoma business. The large retailer specializes in hunting, fishing, camping and other related outdoor recreational merchandise.
The new Bass Pro Shop at 142,000 square feet is massive and is not only focusing on retail, but also entertainment; something the company calls “retailtainment.” The Tacoma Bass Pro not only offers the latest in outdoor products, but a bowling alley with 16 lanes, a restaurant and a 13,00-gallon waterfall and fish pool. The belief is if a consumer stays in the store longer, then they are willing to spend more and it may take a while to get through the whole store. There’s a hunting department, boating department, fishing department and so much more. You can find anything from a $72,000 fishing boat, to some Bass Pro fudge.
The store was designed to fit into the area and create a welcoming atmosphere. The décor features murals that depict Northwest outdoor scenes, forests, mountains, and deer. Located at 7905 South Hosmer Street, this new Tacoma business is having its grand opening ceremony n at 6pm tonight, followed by ribbon cutting at 6:30pm. There will also be the chance to meet various hunting and fishing experts as well as some celebrities including Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka, motocross star Ryan Villopoto, and 2014 Miss Washington USA Allyson Rowe.
Make sure to drop by tomorrow night for a chance to check out the Bass Pro Shop and meet some great local celebrities. Maybe even gain some inspiration to pick up some gear for an outdoor adventure this weekend!
