Spaceworks Tacoma proudly announces Moon Moan, an exhibit of new work by Raven Juarez & Asia Tail at the 950 Gallery (formerly known as Spaceworks Gallery) on view January 8 – February 17, 2018. In Moon Moan, Juarez and Tail show their recent paintings, drawings, and mixed media works using the moon as an aesthetic and conceptual framework. Both artists draw on the myriad meanings associated with the celestial body to explore themes of womanhood, and the lunar influence in all of us. Life-long friends, Asia and Raven are exhibiting their work together for the first time. Through these works, they reflect on memories of their shared childhood and their ongoing journey as they become women. Unabashedly symbolic, poetic, and nostalgic, the artists hope to illuminate unspoken realities shared by all women under one moon. The opening reception will be hosted on third Thursday, January 18, 6-9pm. During the closing day of the exhibition the artists will host Family Saturday featuring activities for kids on February 17th, 11am – 1pm.
