Celebrate National Ice Cream Month – Where to Get the Scoop in Tacoma

July happens to be National Ice Cream Month and with the weather recently, I can see why. There’s no better way to avoid the scorching heat than to escape with a nice cold sweet treat. Don’t settle for the average grocery store ice cream though, Tacoma is full of great places to get your fix. Check out any of these three stops the next time an ice cream craving hits!

Ice Cream Social

Ice Cream Social started out as an ice cream cart at the local Tacoma farmer’s markets and became so popular that the owners decided to open up shop! There are tons of unique flavors like Mad Hat Earl Grey, Roasted Banana, French Toast, Fresh Fig an Salted Caramel with Candied Bacon. The best part though? Each small batch is made fresh from all local ingredients and without using artificial stabilizers, preservative or ingredients.

Yeti Yogurt

If you’re looking for something a little on the healthier side, then frozen yogurt is your go to option and Yeti Yogurt should be at the top of your list. With constant rotating flavors like coconut, mocha, peanut butter and berry sorbet you’ll never get bored. The massive toppings bar spans the length of the shop and is just the cherry on top! (pun intended) With so many combinations to choose form, it’s a great place for the whole family.

Shake Shake Shake

If you prefer your ice cream to be in a more drinkable form, then head over to Shake Shake Shake! This retro diner/drive in café is the brain child of the Naccarato Brothers, who also opened numerous other Tacoma establishments including Pacific Grill, The Beach House and Smoke + Cedar. The milkshake flavors range from original vanilla and chocolate to the whimsical like miso butterscotch and red licorice. You have endless options to choose from.

Don’t limit yourself to just these three places this month though. Tacoma has plenty of hidden gems to choose from for National Ice Cream Month! If you need some inspiration, just check out any of the different district pages.
