  State University
DESCRIPTION:What do Washington and British Columbia residents call and know
  about the shared body of water that is officially called the Salish Sea? 
 A recent study conducted by the SeaDoc Society and Oregon State University
  (OSU) reveals that many residents are unfamiliar with the Salish Sea and 
 more needs to be done to improve geographic literacy and familiarity with 
 this integrated transboundary ecosystem.\n\nPlease join South Sound Surfri
 der as it hosts Dr. David Trimbach from the Department of Fisheries and Wi
 ldlife at Oregon State University to hear about this recent project and Se
 aDoc Society’s next steps with this effort. You can read more about the

 or our bi-annual elections\, and our Chapter Chair and Treasurer positions
  will be open. Are you a member of Surfrider with free time and want to de
 vote it to protecting the oceans\, waves and beaches? Are you passionate a
 bout getting involved with local politics\, and ensuring your voice is hea
 rd? We love all of that\, and think you would be a great fit for our Surfr
 ider family. If you are a member and are interested\, nominate yourself or
  someone else for one of these positions. We can add that name to the list
  of nominees. These are important jobs and duties needed to run an effecti
 ve Chapter\, so please let it be known if you want to get involved. If you

 friendly discussion about the place we live and love\, and how each of us 
 can help to improve it. We meet on the second Thursday of every month\, to
  share our work and how you can get involved. Each meeting typically will 
 have a guest speaker so stay tuned for topics of interest. We will also ha
 ve other fun updates including upcoming beach cleanups and events. Our mee
 tings are open to the public. All ages welcome.\n\nParking at The Social:
