When I walked in the door of Stocklist Goods I was greeted by the springy little black and white shop dog named Moana and a bright smile from owner, Liz. Every time I go into Stocklist I could walk out with half the treasures inside – it truly takes strong will to leave without something for myself or a loved one. I love all the Washington centric goodies as well as the witty socks and greeting cards. They have everyone covered from teacher’s gifts to your best friend, oh and maybe something for yourself (shhhh, I won’t tell!).

Tell me about your business! What makes Stocklist unique?

We started out with the idea of having a mobile gift shop, and that evolved into working with the City’s Space Works program. The idea from the start was to highlight Tacoma based goods for locals and visitors alike. We carry several local artists and locally made goods. As well as Tacoma/Washington centric items. We also have monthly pop-ups where we highlight other local small businesses who might not have a brick and mortar shop. We find that these events cross pollinate the small business relationships and customer base here in town.

What is your favorite thing about the Pacific Avenue Business District you are a part of?

Our district is vibrant and diverse. The majority of the businesses along the Pac Ave strip are female owned and operated. And the neighborhood is super supportive of each other.

What would you do to improve your business district or Tacoma as a whole?

I would love to work on getting Tacoma downtown – if you aren’t here for school or work, you probably aren’t going to come in too many of the shops down here. The trick is to draw people back downtown. Sometimes our district doesn’t feel like a complete neighborhood. We don’t have a grocery store, for example. Little things like that make a big difference.

Do you have a personal favorite or recommendation item in your shop?

I love our silly socks, and so do our customers.

The name of our blog is “Experience Tacoma”, what is your favorite way to experience Tacoma?

KAYAKS! We keep our kayaks down on the Foss Waterway and I absolutely love getting to see Tacoma from the water. We often can get in a paddle before our work day starts at the shop, which is a really great start to the day.
